My Top Five Ski Beers for Upstate New York

This picture is from a tasting I did in Napa, but since fieldwork is a synonym for research, their wit made them my new stock photo for beer.

I understand that my selections maybe controversial for some.

Let me know in the comments what you think belongs on or off this list!

5. Michelob Ultra

Yep, number 5. Sometimes you’re just thirsty. This selection had an additional benefit, depending on the size of your pockets. Most women’s apparel can’t fit a standard 12 ounce can, much less a tall boy. But Mich cans are a slimmer fit for your hydration convenience.

4. Sunrise Session, Northway Brewing

Sometimes you want to show off your fancy local brew cred. Except if you crash and crush a $5 can in your pants. That would make you look like a bit of a tool. Always ski safely- just because it’s a sessionable beer doesn’t mean you’re not also crushable.

3. THE GIANT – a double from Big Slide Brewery in Lake Placid. It won a Gold Medal as the #1 DIPA in New York State at the 2017 NY Craft Beer Competition. The reason this one is at number 3 is that you’re getting a crowler. It’s hard to put a crowler in your pocket. No, this article isn’t all about pockets, it’s about enjoying the mountain with tasty beverages. But if anyone reading this regularly wears women’s clothing, I know you understand my obsession and how it impacts living your best life.

2. Shadow Figures from Common Roots Brewery in South Glens Falls.

It’s an American Porter, available all year but perfect for a sunny winter day with caramel, chocolate, and coffee notes. This is another lower ABV option, because I care about you and want you to stay safe. Ski with control.

1. The Weather Series from Paradox Brewery in Schroon Lake. The closest brewery to my home mountain, Gore, about 20 minutes away.

The weather series is the rotating seasonal, so it’ll always be a perfect fit.

I just tried the Cream Ale, and it was fantastic. I’m highly confident that whichever one you pick up will be as well.

Of course these rankings are a little arbitrary. TheΒ best beer for the occasion is almost always the one in your hand.

Cheers!
